SilverScript (EGWP) Employer Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) for MHBP

SilverScript Employer Prescription Drug Plan for MHBP

All Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) health plans are required to have a Medicare Part D PDP for retirees. If you’re enrolled in Medicare Part A and/or Part B, your MHBP plan will automatically enroll you in the SilverScript (EGWP) Employer Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) for MHBP Standard Option*. Your premium does not change and your prescription drug benefits remain the same or better.

What this means

It could mean savings in prescription costs. Your drugs will still be covered, but copays and coinsurance may be lower. And you’ll receive a separate ID card to use for prescriptions.

Please note: if you are a Medicare-eligible PSHB participant and make the decision to opt out of or disenroll from the PDP included in your PSHB plan, you will NOT have prescription drug benefits through your PSHB plan. If you opt out or disenroll from the PDP you can only reenroll in the PDP through your PSHB plan during the next Open Season or with a qualifying life event.

Also, if you have a higher income, you may be responsible for a surcharge on your Medicare Part D benefit. Refer to the Part D-IRMAA section at Medicare.gov to see if you would be subject to an additional premium.

If you don’t want to be enrolled in the SilverScript (EGWP) Employer PDP for MHBP, you must contact Member Services at 1-866-241-0262 (TTY: 711), Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM ET.

Your prescription drug plan will start January 1, 2026.

When you enroll in the Medicare Part D program, your medical coverage and your PSHB Program premium will not change.** You are still covered under MHBP through the PSHB Program if you continue to pay your MHBP premium. Enrolling in the PDP will not result in the suspension or termination of your PSHB coverage.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you choose this plan and have Medicare, please call us at 1-866-241-0262 to make sure your Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage begins on 1/1/26.

*If you are currently enrolled in a stand-alone Medicare prescription drug plan or a Medicare Advantage (MA) HMO or PPO plan (Part C), enrolling in SIlverScript will cancel your enrollment in the other plan.

**The Social Security Administration (SSA) could require you to pay an extra amount. This is known as the Medicare Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). SSA will contact you if you have to pay Part D IRMAA, based on your income.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) worked with health plans to introduce Medicare Part D prescription drug plans to help you save money.

All Postal Service Health Benefit (PSHB) health plans are required to have a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan for retirees.

Retired MHBP members with Medicare A and/or B who are not enrolled in the Aetna Medicare Advantage for MHBP Standard Option plan, are automatically enrolled into the SilverScript (EGWP) Employer Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) under Medicare Part D. Your SilverScript PDP will offer lower or equal to prescription copayments than your current prescription drug copayments.

Your medical coverage will not change. You are covered under MHBP through the PSHB Program, and you will continue to pay your MHBP premium.

The Medicare Part D PDP through SilverScript is a Medicare approved prescription drug plan that is governed by CMS.

Your prescription drug costs will be lower or equal to your prescription drug costs under MHBP.

No. This is an enhanced benefit that is included in your MHBP premium. However, some members may be required to pay an extra charge, known as the Part D Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). The extra charge is figured out using your modified adjusted gross income as reported on your IRS tax return from 2 years ago. If this amount is above a certain amount, you’ll pay the additional IRMAA charges. For more information on IRMAA, visit www.medicare.gov/drug-coverage-part-d/costs-for-medicare-drug-coverage/monthly-premium-for-drug-plans.

Yes, however, because CMS governs the PDP formulary, the MHBP PSHB formulary and the PDP formulary may differ slightly.

Please check the PDP formulary on MHBPPostal.com/Retiree

In most scenarios, your out-of-pocket costs for prescription drug benefits remain the same or better with the SilverScript Employer Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) for MHBP.
